The floor sets the tone for a room more than most people expect. A well-chosen carpet holds the furniture together, quiets the room and feels good underfoot. Off-the-shelf rugs from a store often fall short on pile density and on the sharpness of the design. Custom hand-tufted work gets you closer. It’s plush, the pattern comes out crisp, and it holds up.

At Saraswati Global, we bring modern artisan technique to private homes and trade projects around the world. We spin the wool, dye it and tuft it on the loom in our own facility. That lets us make floor art for contemporary living spaces and shape it to the room.

1. The Art of Craftsmanship

Different methods of weaving have different characteristics, so it's best to be knowledgeable about the differences before deciding which ones to use for each section of your weaving.

Hand-tufted Rugs (plush comfort & precision). An artisan is creating single loops of yarn on a stretched canvas frame using a small tool and a design stencil. Latex is then applied to the back and a protective backing fabric is applied. The method provides you with a dense pile, carved three dimensional detail and faster turnaround. Hand Tufted Rugs are an ideal fit for family lounges, private bedrooms, and media rooms.

Hand-knotted Rugs (50+ year heirloom longevity). Traditional upright weave looms is used to weave each knot by hand around vertical warp threads. Without any adhesive or artificial backing. The whole structure is tied by hand, so an authentic hand-knotted rug can go through deep washing for decades. They’re still the gold standard for formal receiving spaces, main living room rugs and historic traditional rugs.

Hand-woven and flat-weave rugs. Light and reversible, with no pile and no latex backing. Hand-woven rugs slide under low doors, so they’re a practical pick for breakfast nooks, hallways and sunrooms.

2. Signature Collections for Distinct Aesthetic Visions

When the floor is suitable to the architecture, the entire property is essentially one design.

The Vestige collection is inspired by worn finishes and a mellow surface. The items in the Vestige collection provide a subtle richness to modern interiors and complement neutral stone and timber.

The Romanian collection features harmonious geometric patterns and designs. The Romania Collection is timeless elegant and will look great in formal dining zones and traditional sitting rooms.

Dazzle rugs have a distinctive glittery silk finish and are handmade from raw wool. Artwork is loose, abstract, has a slight sheen and it pairs well with high-rise lounges or modern penthouses.

Geometric rugs have distinct lines and carefully placed geometric designs. They help to define the minimalist furniture in open spaces without clutter while at the same time offering a certain form and structure in open spaces.

Transitional rugs are a blend of classic colors and patterns, along with subdues and muted colors. They are linked to contemporary furnishings and architecture.

Today washing the carpet is a soft water color and clean linear detail. They can be installed in open spaces.

3. Room-by-Room Functional Guide

Every room requires its own requirements. The proper fiber content and pile height assure a rug's longevity.

Formal Living & Drawing Rooms

Focus. Visual effects, sound absorption and frequent use.

Selection. Wool and silk rugs are made by New Zealand wool and mulberry silk, and the rugs have a rich depth. Wool is naturally laned and will not allow dust and light spills to penetrate the surface. The fine silk reflects light and stress features of the carving detail.

Master Suites & Private Bedrooms

Focus. Soft warmth underfoot and an easy morning.

Selection. Plush bedroom rugs or soft cotton rugs under the bottom two-thirds of the bed ground the sleeping area. Your bare feet get a gentle landing too.

Children’s Spaces & Play Rooms

Focus. Soft cushioning, easy spot cleaning and non-toxic construction.

Selection. Dense, low-shed kids room rugs made from gentle natural fibers give children soft padding for everyday play. They don’t leave synthetic residue in the rooms where people sleep.

Covered Verandas & High-Spill Areas

Focus. Water resistance, UV stability and quick upkeep.

Selection. These eco-friendly 100% RPET rugs are spun entirely from post-consumer plastic bottles. They feel as soft as natural yarn, and they repel water well. That suits sunrooms and indoor-outdoor dining spaces.

4. Spatial Proportions: Sizing Your Layout Cleanly

The right size stops the furniture floating and gives the room a clean structure.

The Grand 10X14 Footprint

In open-concept great rooms, grand penthouses and primary estate lounges, a 10X14 gives you generous coverage. Every leg of your sofas, side tables and armchairs sits on the rug. The separate seating pieces turn into one comfortable conversation area, and under high ceilings the room echoes a lot less.

The Versatile 9X12 Footprint

In a standard living room, dining room or primary bedroom suite, a 9X12 balances coverage and proportion nicely. The front legs of the sofas rest on the rug pile, and the back legs stay on hardwood or stone. The furniture feels anchored, and a good border of bare floor shows along the walls.

Circular Silhouettes for Transition Zones

A round rug in a grand entry foyer, a rotunda hallway or under a round accent table breaks up the sharp right angles. It guides people through the transition spaces.

5. Maintenance & Preservation Rules

Good care protects the structure, the texture and the color of your hand-tufted rug.

?     Suction-only vacuuming. Vacuum regularly with suction, or switch off the rotating brush bar. That stops it loosening tufted loops or pulling delicate silk highlights.

?     Immediate spill management. Blot spills right away with a clean, dry white cotton cloth. Don’t rub. Scrubbing pushes liquid deeper into the canvas backing.

?     Dense rug pads. Place a thick, permeable, non-slip mat under the rug. It reduces foot impact, prevents rug shifting and will protect the floor finish.

?     Professional cleaning. Have floor care workers hand clean natural fiber rugs every 3-5 years. It will take out the embedded dust and restore the bounce back ability to the pile.

?     Periodic rotation. Rotate the rug every six months, to ensure it wears evenly when walked on and exposed to sunlight.
